Continent hopping is apparently what I do best! I spent two and a half weeks on “holiday” at the end of December in the United States. Two days en route. Seven days in Charleston with my family. Five days in Colorado. Two days back across the Pacific to Perth.
A time to be with family- blood family and Jesus family. Opportunities to share stories and small gifts from all over and catch up over coffee. Updates on my ministry here with YWAM Perth were met with so much encouragement, support, and wisdom. ThankyouThankyouThankyou.
I had many adventures.Christmas Eve service, Christmas day, motocross, early morning fishing, big breakfast at Grandmama’s house, and some seriously fun skiing.
How do you know who and how to help? Research. I am currently working on a large scale project on each individual suburb of Perth. My team hopes to produce a thorough summary of political, religious, indigenous, and general community history as well as current demographics, crime rates, and general needs for each suburb in order to pin point and communicate effectively what/where/how specialised ministry can be effective.
Cooking is ministry. With the largest family style kitchen in all of Western Australia, its all hands on deck at Youth With A Mission Perth. Hundreds of people. All long term or short term missionaries. Two meals a day. Sustaining and nourishing community. The crazy thing is…. we all rely on support elsewhere and the kitchen is no different. The days I spend chopping and stirring and sauteing, I am a first hand witness to the miracles that happen as fresh produce, fine cuts of meat, and expensive pastries show up for free. So that’s pretty cool.
Strategic prayer with community spiritual leaders, corporate worship times, fighting in the spiritual for our outreach teams in Manila.
My days are full of many things and I am certainly sleeping well at night. But I do find time to be artsy and relaxed and make memories.
I will be returning to Manila, The Philippines, in February! Still waiting on an exact when and what, but I am learning to live in the unknown and unexpected, so that’s pretty standard.
What can tell you is that my team and I will be part of the large scale ministry of Mega Cities that is in full swing throughout the city. Unity plus Holy Spirit plus specific ministry gifts. One year focus for transformation. I’m super pumped.(For more information, visit http://www.megacities.org.au/).
Grace and peace,
