the pursuit of
As humans, we are threefold. Body, soul, spirit. Each with individual needs and purposes. We are born wanting. Bodies need medical care, souls need love and relationships, and spirits need an encounter with their Creator and Lover.
Ministry can be viewed by the following: which part or parts of the whole are being ministered to?
One cannot hope to be whole without encountering healing in all of themselves.
This is the vision behind Jesus ministry on the earth. Touching the body, speaking to the soul, awakening the spirit.
We need medical missions. Sports, music, education, counseling, Christian discipleship, evangelistic training, anti human trafficking, worship ministry. These are only some. Each community as a whole has complex characteristics and needs that cannot be addressed in just one of these outlets- it’s the complete approach from the God of abundance and wholeness that truly transforms.
God has called me at this time to be a minister to the spirit. Like an emergency response team to spiritual sickness or attacks of the enemy. Because the enemy infiltrates like the most dangerous disease, infecting every part of a life.
For this time, I’ve got a call to touch Australia, specifically Perth City. An aboriginal community that holds one of the highest suicide rates in the world. A city growing famous for its meth industry. A state with a tragic prevelance of broken families and domestic violence. Symptoms of a much larger sickness. A sickness far deeper than what we can see.
Every three months, my team, Worship For the Nations, partners with an already existing ministry at YWAM Perth. Currently, we are working with Revive, a ministry focussed on bringing healing and new life to marginalized youth, and also partnering with A.R.M.S. (Australia Relief and Mercy Services). Both of these ministries have a powerful presence in fighting for and bringing healing both in the Perth communitity and globally. They bring specialized, practical approaches to these needs.
So, what does worship have to do with helping a hurting world?
The presence of God-the loving Father, the Savior-cannot be replicated in any form of bandage, medication, foodstamp, or intervention. All of these are good and truly needed and I am by no means encouraging a lack of care for the physical problems in lieu of the spiritual, but just as a wound needs more than a bandage, so does a person.
I know from experience. My God’s presence reaches far beyond anything the world can offer-He reaches into my spirit-to bring the healing, grace, and fire that my heart is ever desperate for.
Practically, this looks like worshipping in places where the hurting are, asking the Spirit of God to meet us and the broken there, and praying specifically for the known needs.
My job is to look hopelessness in the face and proclaim that my God is great. My God is good. And my God will not abandon His children to the darkness of this world.
Thanks for giving a bit of your time to hear some of what is on my heart! I love that God is always teaching me about what He is doing in the world and I just need to let it out.
As always, thank you so much for your support- whether its following me on social media, prayers, or finanicial blessing.
Grace & Peace,
